Long time no seen peeps
I have no idea how many reads this, but just because I find it joyful to write in english I thought I'd update this blog as well. There's happened a lot since last time I updated here. I haven't been at the clinic for a very long time, last time was in february this year. I am now trying to live a life without so much interference from the psychologist, though I am still being treated and come to meetings once in a week. Me and Zorro have been competing in agility as well. A lot of disqualifications, but also a few good results. At midsummer we won the jumping class and placed ourselves on a fourth place in agility class. Last week we participated in a double class 1 competition. However, due to some mistakes we had DQ in 3 out of 4 runs. In the one and only run we actually completed, we came around without any faults except on time. But that was entirely my own fault. We got ourselves a fourth place still. We also participated in something entirely new; a running event called Dog Marsh. We were lucky and got a Border-Collie equipage who made Zorro put in an extra fast gear. I've never seen him run that fast for so long, and I'm very proud over him. We took third place in that event amongst the BC-people. Right now I've put the agility training/competing on the shelf. I want to focus more on the gun-dog training, expecially now when fall is closing in and the hunting season kicks off. I don't have my own hunting license, yet, but we might get allowed to see or even take part in some duck hunting. Also I hope that some game tracking tests will be available, I am still "missing" our three first prizes ;) There is some videos up on my YT chanel, you're very much welcome to watch and comment :) Pictures are also up on my other swedish blog. Hello again! Days are kinda busy here but still rather calm. Yesterday I took Zorro with me to visit a friend up in northern Gotland. We took all the dogs out (she has 5 schnauzers drawf size + one english setter) for a walk. We ended up being out for almost 2 hours and the dog ran, played and Zorro and Thelma also baded some in the water where Zorro took a swim, silly retriever ;) Today we went out for some fetching training for one hour and then met my neighbours and their two dogs, a daschound and a swedish white elkhound, both around 1 year old. Zorro knows the daschound Morris since last summer but the white elkhound is a newbie so of course he had to show him that he's the boss. And don't worry he was never mean, just growled and did fake attacks when the dogs got too much over him or were too excited. Afterwards they all walked side by side without any difficulties. I am hoping that I can join my neighbours for a walk tomorrow in Ihreviken where Zorro and Tass can run around. Holding my thumbs for good weather! We also trailed a bit today. I came back kinda late after fetching to lay out the trail, so the trail wasn't more than 3 hours old when we took it at 5 o'clock. It was 250 m long and had 5 turns and one turn that went back along the trail and then out (hard to explain). He did very well so I am hoping he'll do as good on the test the 29th! :) Zorro with Thelma by the water yesterday :)
Happy Easter everyone!
I know I suck on updating this page, but I'll try to better up! Today's plans is to go out trailing with Zorro, that is as soon as the weather has calmed down. I laid out a blood trail last night and it's been pouring down and blowing since early morning here. However I don't want to wait too long since they've promised snow (!!!) later on today. I beg it won't come... It is April now as you know and to me it means that a hectic month is taking it's start. The 17th of August me and my friend are going to start up an agility course for beginners which will last 6 times (not 6 days in a row though). 21-22 is the start of the project me and my friend have been working on. It's a freestyle course that lasts the entire weekend so I am very much looking forward to this! The weekend following after that is also scheduled, with me helping out on our other classmates' project, an agility competition on the saturday 28th of April, and the day after that I've planned to compete in game tracking again with Zorro, open class. I'll try to explain more about it next time because it's pretty much to explain and I don't want this to get too long, hehe. Of course I'll have homework to do, my dog to train (and myself!) and prepare for the graduation. So I believe it'll feel like everything passes by in a flash and then all of sudden I'll be standing on Hamnplan's roof screaming out together with my classmates, graduating. Can't wait for it ^^ Hello folks!
Now I've gotten the videos from last weekend when me and Zorro competed in agility for first time. You who want to see can either go to my swedish blog and check them out, or go to my youtube channel, lisaheartfanta and look at them from there :) Latest news then. I made a phone call to Helge who takes care of the tests of game tracking and told him I wanted to participate in the tests in April. Apparently there was only one day that I was allowed to compete, but at least it's something. So now we're preparing for that and started already today by going a trail I laid out yesterday. It was around 400 m long and 17 hours old. Zorro had a brilliant speed, not rushing as he has done lately. It was calm and concentrated. I suppose he just had to put a lot of focus on this since it has been raining and snowing during the night and it's around zero in temperature outside. But boy I had a satisfied, but wet, dog who walked with the hoof all the way home, through a wet forest and field. Other than that we've been training a bit on the pilates ball and practised on advancing some tricks. In between that I've made cheeseballs, and no it's not for humans but for dogs. The recipe is made of water, wheat and a bit churned cheese. Very yummy actually, works as good for humans as it does for dogs ^^ Hello folks!
This past weekend me and Zorro were on our very first official Agility competition. It was a lot of fun even though we got disqualified both of the days. But Zorro did very well all the time, I was the one who messed it up. First time I ran into a jumping obstacle and ruined our run by not getting up fast enough and by that Zorro took his own decisions and got into the wrong end of the tunnel in front os us. The second time I was too fast to move away without being totally certain that I had Zorro with me, which caused him to run into a tunnel (yepp, again with the tunnels) that he wasn't supposed to run to and we got DQ. And I admitt it feels shitty, but hey, at least I got more experience of competing and I also know now what to practise on until next competition, whenever that will be. Probably in summer since there's no time, money or even any competitions on this island until then. But we're gonna focus on something else until easter holidays. The game tracking tests are coming up in the end of April so we need to practise for those. Also I'm going to have a lot to do in school so maybe we just practise fetching and game tracking for a while now and take a jog every now and then. That's pretty much it for today. I'm gonna try to get the videos up from the past weekends competition, but I dunno when I'll get them so keep your eyes open! Wow ok I really suck on updating this page
But we're still alive here, doing fine. This past monday Zorro and I went to Bockes with our class and I am SO SO SO proud over his work with the special search there. Wish the video tape of him had been saved but my cellphone was acting stupid so I lost it... Today Zorro had his first real walk without being in leash whole time. Now on lunch walk he was sooo happy about it he went all crazy running around like a maniac. He's so cute my little red furball<3 Other than that I hope to train a bit of agility in the weekend, and if the weather is on our side I miiight lay out a blood trail for him tomorrow. We'll see what awaits us! Zorro jumps into the water Hello folks!
Ain't much happening right now. Been in school entire day with Zorro, next week we're going to this place called Bockes, rehab center for dogs and also a place where they educate narcotic-searching dogs ^^ We're gonna get to train our dogs in both the search part (but without narcotica of course!! we search other stuff) and swimming. We did this last monday too so it's gonna be really fun to come back ^^ Zorro will have been resting for 14 days by then so he'll be allowed to participate. Yay! Hello everyone!
Today I got a text message saying that I had gotten a delivery from DHL that was waiting for me at OKQ8. So I got there as fast as possible after school and it turned out to be the new Hurtta collar I bought this week for Zorro. I've longed to buy a collar like this ever since Zorro was around 1 year and now finely I found a website which had sale and bought the collar for 75 crowns (7.5 euro). A total bargain with other words since it normally costs around 149 crowns (14 euro). It fits him really well, don't you think? ^^ Yay! First post in the English blog! :D
I have no idea of how many that will read this blog, but I figured that since I still LOVE to write in english and I do have some english friends I might as well let them have a chance to read it ^^ Today have been pretty calm. I did some clicker training with Zorro and trained on our new trick "shame" and also on an older but not completed trick called "Kö". For you who don't know what the last one is I can try to explain. "Kö" means that the dog goes up on its hind legs and puts the front legs on the owners waist and then walks after her/him. Zorro has gotten really good balance after some balance training on the Pilates Ball that I got as Christmas gift and also from doing the trick "On hands", where he backs up against a wall and stands only on his front paws with his hind legs against the wall. I do have a vid of it, you can find it on our Youtube channel here. Well think that's all I've got for today folks! Hope you have a nice day/evening ;) |
What will I find here? Here I will be updating about our training and daily life. I hope you'll find it entertaining! :) Archives
